Broadcasting Act 2009 Statutory Notice

The Statutory €160 Irish TV Licence

Under Irish law (Broadcasting Act 2009), any household possessing a television receiver or equipment capable of receiving broadcast signals is legally required to hold a €160 annual TV Licence issued by An Post. Using an IPTV player replaces expensive commercial pay-TV channel subscriptions (Sky, Virgin Media, TNT Sports), but does not exempt owners of physical television sets from the statutory national TV licence.
